"A Southern Girlhood - No Crinolines" by Annie McLeod Jenkins
A reluctant North Carolina writer recalls the freedom of her tomboy childhood through her memories of an adventure in the “wilds” of South Carolina one hot July, made special in it remembrance six decades later.
Annie Jenkins lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She declares, “My writing life consists of good intentions and some scattered notebooks. I’ve taken a few writing classes, written some pleasing (to me) poetic sketches of characters from my childhood, and published one essay in The Appalachian Trail magazine. But generally, I’ve never decided exactly where I want to aim my pen.”
