Lisa Miracle Ballard lives in Huntersville, North Carolina, after growing up in Floyd County, Kentucky. An active volunteer and advocate in her community, her heritage inspires her writing which has been shared in community publications, newspapers, schools and churches. She is currently working on a collection of essays, poetry, and short stories reflecting her Appalachian roots.

“The Gift” appears in Bearing Up, the 2018 Personal Essay Publishing Project anthology.
