"Passing Memories" by Barbara Chandler (reprise from March 2020)
if these walls could tell our stories
Kentucky writer Barbara Chandler wanders through an old family homestead of her childhood and reflects on years gone by and the people gone with them in the hopes of passing those memories onto another generation.
Barbara Chandler reared two boys around Fourmile, on the Boone Trace along the Cumberland River in Bell County, Kentucky, where her family has lived for over 100 years. Grandmother Dixie Bell Hensley Sizemore was born there in 1917. Her father, Richard Hensley, was postmaster and barber for the area. He and Dixie’s husband, Johnny, were coal miners and farmers, too.
