"Silas Dooley and the Indian Brave" by William Hildebolt (in memoriam)
A native of Ohio, William Hildebolt shares a family story from the earliest days of his ancestors who have lived on and worked the same land near the Indiana border and kept up the family homestead for 200 years.
We offer this episode in memoriam for its writer, William Hildebolt, who passed away March 28, 2020 on the 55th anniversary of marriage to wife Sandi.
With a doctoral degree in Food Science, he served as Vice president of Product Development of Campbell Soup Company where he developed one of the most successful grocery product launches of the 1980s, Prego tomato sauce. William Hildebolt received 20 patents and a distinguished alumni award from The Ohio State University. His career extended into research and development for other international corporations and the establishment of a biologically-based lawn and turf service which thrives today. Combined with his interest in woodworking, William oversaw the restoration of his family’s 200-year old farm homestead, the land on which his ancestor, Silas Dooley, played out this story William wrote for the 2019 Personal Story Publishing Project.
We extend our sincere condolences and sympathies to William Hildebolt’s family.
