"The Call of the Forest" by Bohdan Dziadyk

In the spirit of the classic 1983 movie, “A Christmas Story” with Ralphie dreaming getting a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas, Dr. Bohdan Dziadyk offers this story of his building a "firecracker gun" as a boy while developing a love of the forest, thus preparing his lifelong love of environmental science.

 

After serving in the U.S. Army for three years as a Special Forces medic, Bohdan Dziadyk completed M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in botany and ecology. For 36 years, he was a professor of biology at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Since retiring in 2016, he has maintained his interests in environmental studies and natural history.
