"Sufis in Florida" by Fatima Alharthi
A graduate student pursuing her PhD in creative writing in Tallahassee, Florida, shares thoughts on how “the South” has informed her as a Saudi woman and Sufi.
Fatima Alharthi was born in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. She is a graduate assistant at Florida State University where she studies for her PhD in Creative Writing. She wrote previously under Fatima Jamal. Her fiction can be found on Smokelong Quarterly, Apeiron Review, Flyleaf Journal, and Santa Ana River Review among others. Fatima believes in writing to bridge the gap between the East and the West. She currently lives in Tallahassee with her husband and three children.
