"Thanksgiving 1864" by Randell Jones

The day after Thanksgiving 1864 was a truly "black Friday" for the Union prisoners who attempted to escape from the Confederate prison camp in Salisbury, North Carolina. (This bonus episode is a story appearing in From Time to Time in North Carolina by Randell Jones.)

 

Randell Jones lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is the author of several award-winning history books, including In the Footsteps of Daniel Boone, and From Time to Time in North Carolina. Since 2007, he has served as an invited member of the Road Scholars Speakers Bureau of the North Carolina Humanities Council.
